Strictly The Best: VP Records, Power 105 and Reggae music's best honor Joel Chin

On December 14 some of the Caribbean's brightest music stars came together at to show their support for Strictly The Best. Established in 1993 it is now the longest running reggae compilation. There was also a special tribute to Joel chin, VP's well loved A&R manager who unexpectedly passed away in 2011. The event took place at BB Kings in Times Square and was hosted by VP Records and Power 105's DJ Norie. Sean Paul, Shaggy, Gyptian, Demarco, Laza Morgan and Wayne Marshall, were among the featured performers.
The energy of the performers was off the chain, Dj Norie and crew got the crowd charged up with a set that featured some of the hottest tunes past and present. Every one of the artists gave a performance straight from the heart. In between the friendly stage banter and crowd pleasing antics by Shaggy, there was a moment of silence in honor of Joel Chin. Throughout the show the artists paid tribute to Joel Chin who was loved by all of the VP family and was instrumental in the career of many of the artists present. It was a great night for reggae and the Strictly The Best series, the support for this compilation has grown year after year.
This particular edition of Strictly The Best series was the last project Joel had a worked on before his sudden passing. As lead A&R, he picked the songs and complied the music. so the tradition continues, "Strictly The Best Vol 44 and 45 are both one-of-kind collections," states VP Records President Chris Chin. From Strictly the Best Vol. 44's must-have set from artists like Beres Hammond, Gyptian, Queen Ifrica, and Etana, to the Best Vol. 45's cutting-edge dancehall anthems, Strictly The Best provides the hottest catalog of dancehall/reggae music for the new year.
The STB series has helped to shape many of reggae’s brightest stars including Sean Paul, Mavado, Buju Banton, Bounty Killer, Shaggy and many others. Joel Chin loved his work, and he dedicated his life to it, you can hear it in the music. Joel's VP family is very proud of the work they did on Strictly The Best vol. 44 and 45. Strictly The Best continues to be a proving ground for talented artists, if you want to know who the latest craze in reggae music it's the compilation to get.
