Jade Cole: Model Citizen

alt

Jade Cole beamed into millions of homes on America's Next Top Model cycle six, since then she hasn't stopped making a strong impression. Every new season of ANTM means  mandatory drama and viewers have their favorites. Blogs and message boards buzz with talk of who viewers  want to stay and those they want gone from week to week. The modeling contracts, the money and the other prizes that come with winning ANTM are all interesting but it is after all about the drama. You certainly don't get a true picture of anyone from a reality show and this is certainly true for Jade as well. She hasn't been afraid to say that she has issues with the way she was portrayed on the show. Since ANTM Jade has gone on to model internationally and appear in  numerous magazine features. She has also been featured in music videos, among them "Change Clothes" by Jay-Z, for Jade it's about keeping the momentum and taking advantage of the visibility that ANTM  provided. She still credits the show and Tyra Banks with giving her national exposure and she intends to make the best of the opportunity. With all of this she remains actively involved with modeling, and in addition to attending shows at MBFW Fall 2011, she also walked in Alisha Trimble's show. Opinions about Jade Cole tend to be on opposite ends of the spectrum, her fans still feel she should have won cycle six, and her detractors were happy that she was eliminated. With her unique look and fashion sense she isn't someone you forget easily if at all, and for that we are pleased to present some insights into this dynamic woman.

Caribbean Posh- Jade why don't you start by telling us where you're from.

J- I am from PA.

Caribbean Posh- So did you always have an interest in fashion?

J-No, not actually. My interest in fashion started when I moved to New York.

Caribbean Posh- Why did you decide to pursue modeling?

J- During my high school years I often was told by many, that I should be a model or that I looked like a model. I  was often  hear I should pursue a career in modeling, and so eventually I did!

Caribbean Posh- Who were some of your early influences or role models?

J- My family. My friends, lovers, and people I met or grew with in my life.

Caribbean Posh- You were already modeling at the time you auditioned for ANTM, why did you decide to enter the competition?

J-Because I felt at the time I was missing the strong representation I needed to help further my career in all aspects, and even though ANTM was just a reality show, the modeling contract, money and exposure was very real, and with that I felt I had nothing to lose.

Caribbean Posh- Since being on ANTM are you being contacted by a lot of aspiring models seeking advice about getting into the industry?

J-Yes I do, and for all those that want to ask me for advice or just simply have questions for me. You can contact me on my personal FB.
