LIME Mobile TV: It's On.

Chris Dehring, Chief Marketing Officer

On the go but want to stay in tune with your favourite TV shows? Or looking for cool, locally made TV content and foreign cable programming? LIME is working to make it happen for you.

Before the end of the year, live television on a mobile phone — presently available in very few markets across the world — will be a reality in Jamaica, as LIME becomes the first mobile carrier to deliver mobile television services in the Caribbean. Sometime next year, LIME plans to launch a subscriber television service that will offer TV in your home and on your PC. The foray into television is part of the company’s strategy to fully emphasize the “E” in its name: Landline, Internet, Mobile, Entertainment.

Initially, mobile TV will be available in Kingston and St. Catherine, but LIME intends to expand the service island-wide by early 2011. Eventually, LIME plans to make service available across the region. For LIME TV, following a debut in Jamaica, LIME also plans a regional expansion. At the launch of mobile TV, LIME is planning to offer 15 premium TV and five radio channels, all digital, including local and international news, sports and entertainment channels, most of which are now only available on cable systems. For example, football fans will be able to watch SportsMax and Fox Soccer Plus, bringing live matches
from the Barclay’s Premier League to their mobile phones. No more missing sports or shows because you’re away
from home.

“LIME customers will be able to enjoy some of their favourite TV channels anytime and anywhere they want to,” comments Chris Dehring, chief marketing officer of LIME Caribbean. “It’s fantastic technology, but we are going to make it very affordable, and we are convinced that customers will be really excited by the possibilities.
It will truly be a service for living, every day.” All that customers will need is a digital mobile TV-enabled phone, such as the Nokia 5330 or the ZTE N290 — both available from LIME. The company is also working to deliver this service to BlackBerry and other smartphone devices in the near future.“Imagine being able to watch your favourite sporting events, entertainment or breaking news while you’re waiting at the doctor, on the beach, going home on the bus … anywhere,” Dehring adds. “We are putting entertainment and information at your fingertips.”

LIME’s launch of mobile TV follows another historic first last spring, when the company streamed the Boys and Girls Athletic Championships (Champs) live to BlackBerry customers on its 3G network. It was the first time an
event had ever been shown live on a mobile phone in
the Caribbean. All of this is a continuation of LIME’s commitment to exceed customers’ expectations.“We brought the first cable to the Caribbean 140 years ago,” Dehring concludes. “And innovation remains very important to us.”

The provision for playing football is probably one of the best in the country, as it is the ‘people’s game’ which anyone who wants to can participate in. There are boys and girls leagues, professional and amateur men’s and women’s leagues, and leagues for the disabled. As the facilities do not need to differ for most groups, the facilities available are open to all, to practice as a team, to kick-about as a group of friends or to play competitive matches.Live Football Streaming
