alt

From L-R: Ty Hunter, Paris Williams, and model Taejahn Taylor.

Ty Hunter has been styling Beyonce since her days as a member of Destiny's Child. The always stunning superstar remains chic whether on or off the red carpet. In addition to his work with Beyonce he is also a part of Tina Knowles's Production Company.  If there is a time when you will encounter a celebrity stylist it is during  Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. It was in the IMG lobby of Lincoln Center that POSH was able to grab some face time with the man responsible for helping Beyonce stay on trend and in style. Posh presents celebrity stylist Ty Hunter.

POSH :  Ty, how long have you been Beyonce's stylist?

TH: I started working with Beyonce when she was with Destiny's Child 13 years ago.

POSH:  What's your approach to working with such a dynamic and fashion forward artist?

TH: We kind of just try to keep up with the trends, we work with up and coming designers and see what's hot for the season.

POSH: How do you connect with some of the new talent out there?

TH: well a lot of times I go out and scout new up and coming designers. For her album packaging I found this young girl who went to FIT and she was designing Lingerie. She was absolutely so talented, she's an amazing Lingerie designer. What happened was that I  met up with her and asked if I could see her sketches and some of the stuff that she made in school. We met and I told her in nine months I'm gonna call you so you have to be ready. So I gave her Beyonce's measurements and we met in nine months, and she's featured in Beyonce's album packaging for her last CD.

POSH: what would you say to up and coming designers and stylists in the Caribbean who dream of one day working with an artist like Beyonce?

TH: I think to sum it up you have to just go for it, if you want to do something. If you see a particular artist you want to wear your items, you have to figure out a way to meet up with them or their assistant, or their label or their stylist. You just have to try, it's a struggle but if you're determined the sky's the limit.

POSH: Who would you say might be an influence on your personal style?

TH : I actually influence myself, I kind of just go with how I feel day to day and just play around in my closet.
