On the runway, Jaunel McKenzie owned it as she demanded attention with such a presence. Like every year it seems CFW comes through on its promise of showcasing the best of Caribbean and International designers. Jamaica’s Jae Jolly, Mushroom, Mutamba, and Trinidad’s Meiling were among some of my favorites.
Actually, had the pleasure of sitting next to Meiling; what a very pleasant lady. As a repeat designer of the show she explained that what she likes about CFW is the warm reception - this is her 5th time. In talking about her new line Grand Riviere, she explained that there is an old beach resort in Trinidad with the name which inspires a very lyrical, romantic and going back to basics concept. Shout out to Trinidadian designer, Nigel Eastman who Meiling so kindly introduced me to.

We first did a feature on the very beautiful and talented Kris Kelli around the debut of her album “My World” in 2006. Caught up with Kelli recently via twitter and she is still going strong. The songstress has been keeping herself busy recording and releasing lots of Reggae/Pop singles. Working with some of Jamaica’s finest producers; Arif Cooper, Christopher Birch, Don Corleon, Big Yard, Shane Brown just to name a few. “I’ve also been busy touring, promoting my music all over the World expanding my record label Double K Records , which not only produces records, but we also direct my music videos too,” Kelli says.

P-Your formal education is actually in International Business. How did you get into fashion?
The decision to study Marketing and International business was actually strategic, I knew I wanted to be in the business of fashion and always had a natural creative flair for designing and styling growing up, especially with a mom that designed as well. However I saw myself doing more than just that ... I see myself as an entrepreneur in the making, building a brand that will eventually diversify into other aspects of the fashion world and it was with this in mind that I pursued those majors so as to develop the necessary skills and knowledge needed to operate my own fashion conglomerate.

The centerpiece of The Heart Truth® is the Red Dress, which was introduced as the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness in 2002 by NHLBI.
