Sisa designs

Luxury and Couture came together at the Waldorf Astoria for Couture Fashion Week New York . From Septermber 16-18 founder/designer Andres Aquino presented 19 couture designers representing countries such as; India, Nigeria, Russia and Brazil. Taking place directly after the frenzy of MBFW this show is a flight of fancy. It's not about the trends for the spring or summer, it's strictly Couture and over the top. In addition to the collections, Couture Fashion Week gives it's stage over to quality music and dance performers in between shows. These performances take place before and after collections are presented and in some cases continue while the collections are shown.
This event is truly unique and for three days you will experience the wonder of international Couture. Sushma Patel, and Sisa by Simone Rodrigues are two of the designers who returned to show collections this season. In addition to those designers we were able to once again enjoy the absolute majesty of Han Couture. This collective made up of winners of China's Han design competition draws it's inspiration from the history and cultural traditions of China.
A late addition to the show was Eredappa Hart (Nigeria) presenting stunningly colorfully designs embellished with beadwork. Eredappa is definitely a designer I would like to see return to CFW. Couture Fashion Week tends to attract some very talented Nigerian designers, last season it was the House of Jola that represented for Nigeria.
Andres Aquino loves gowns that make a bold statement. His designs sweep and flow down the runway, intricate beadwork and embroidered embellishments are also part of his signature. His collection presented soft pastel separates and flowing pink gowns with sheer trains. All the designers did amazing work on their collections. Couture Fashion Week is an international fashion experience. It's an experience that provides a stage for designers who have free reign to let their imaginations run wild, it's luxurious, it's regal, it's posh.
